LangLangs, also known as languages4me.edublogs.org, is intended for anyone learning French or Spanish up to GCSE, but especially for the pupils I teach or have taught in previous schools. Here you’ll find the key resources, card games and activities we have used in class, links to YouTube videos and audio files I’ve made to practise for the speaking test at GCSE. If you’ve joined the school mid-year, the materials here will help you to catch up.
The easiest way to find your way around is to hover over your language from the menu above and then choose the area you want to work on from the drop-down list. If you go this way, you’ll find all the resources on the same theme together. Alternatively, if you know the topic or the activity type, you can try the tag cloud or the search to find what you want. If you’d like to receive an email notification whenever a new resource is published, you can sign up in the box at the top of the page or click Subscribe at the bottom.
All of this material has been devised by me (except links to materials elsewhere) for use with beginners to Year 11 (GCSE) in mixed ability classes in French and Spanish, along with some materials for A Level. Teachers in other schools are welcome to use any materials here for their own classes, but copyright remains my own. Please do not upload to other websites or publish without permission.
The older GCSE materials have been updated for the new 2026 exam, but with some differences: the instructions are in the target language rather than in English, as this reflects how I teach; the translation tasks, especially at Higher level, are in paragraphs rather than individual, unconnected sentences; in the Read Aloud practice tasks, I have not tried to emulate the exam format particularly closely (I use AQA) but rather to provide practice that will contribute to learners’ growing skills.
Teachers who are interested in teaching through the target language may also be interested to see my methodology blog, The Target Language Classroom.
